Editorial Policy

1. What we publish

The Dispatch covers design, architecture and culture: projects and the people behind them, materials and the craft of using them, interiors, objects, and the conversations around all of it.

We publish work we find worth someone's attention. Nothing appears here because a fee was paid for it.

2. Editorial independence

Editorial decisions are made by the editorial team alone. Advertisers, partners, brands selling through our shop and sponsors of our events have no say in what we cover, how we cover it, or what we say.

Being stocked in our shop does not buy editorial coverage, and being covered editorially is not a promise of a place in the shop.

3. Sponsored content and partnerships

Where a piece is paid for or produced with a commercial partner, we label it clearly at the top of the page — In partnership with, Sponsored, or Paid content — and the label stays visible as you read.

Our own products and collaborations are identified as ours whenever we write about them.

4. Gifts, samples and press trips

We sometimes receive product samples, review copies or invitations to travel for a story. Accepting one is never a promise of coverage, and never a promise of favourable coverage.

Where a trip, a stay or a sample made a piece possible, we say so within the piece.

5. How we commission

Pieces are written by our editorial team and by commissioned contributors — writers, photographers, architects and designers.

Every contributor is credited by name, with a profile page. Contributors keep copyright in their own work and license it to us for publication.

6. Accuracy and sourcing

We check names, dates, materials, measurements and attributions before publishing. Claims about a project are checked with the studio, the architect or the maker where we can.

Quotes are used as they were given. Where a quote is shortened or lightly edited for clarity, the meaning is never changed. Anonymous sourcing is rare and is explained in the piece when we use it.

7. Images

Every photograph is credited to its photographer or to the studio that supplied it. We publish images with permission, and we take credit and licensing seriously.

Images are not retouched in ways that misrepresent a project, a material or a finish.

8. Our use of AI

Articles are written and edited by people. We may use software to help with transcription, research or proofreading, but no piece is published as machine-written text, and a person is responsible for every word we publish.

9. Corrections

We correct mistakes rather than quietly deleting them.

• Small factual fixes — a spelling, a date, a credit — are made and noted at the foot of the piece.
• Material corrections carry a dated correction note explaining what was wrong.
• A piece is only withdrawn entirely in rare cases, such as a legal requirement, and we say that it was withdrawn.

10. Right of reply

If a piece makes a criticism of a person, a studio or a company, we give them the chance to respond before publication, and we publish the substance of their response.

11. Rights and permissions

Our articles, photographs and issues are copyright of The Dispatch and its contributors. You may quote a short extract with credit and a link. For anything more — syndication, reprints, use of an image — email us first. The full terms are in our Terms & Conditions.
